Cornflakes Chicken

Growing up, we had a tradition that for our birthday we could pick one favorite meal from home and one to eat out. Cornflakes Chicken was my most requested Birthday Meal, I never got tired of it.

While my meal out often varied, especially as I got older, I wanted to try new things. However, when you’re at home, there is a striking tendency to stick with tradition.

Chris had never had Cornflakes Chicken before (poor thing) and after he tried it, agreed with me that it was yummy.

So, Mom, I lift the proverbial glass in your general direction…’Sláinte!’
(pronounced ‘slawn-cha’, meaning Health! A common toast in Ireland, the equivalent to ‘Cheers’)

Excuse me, I’ve got me some chicken to eat.

PS: here is pretty much how I make it, in case you want to try it. http://www.food.com/recipe/oven-fried-chicken-with-corn-flakes-43162

Happy Birthday Momcat!

Last nite I made the current favorite, Triple Berry Pie, for Momcat’s Birthday present.  The last two years, it was Rhubarb Custard Pie, but now we’ve “discovered” the Triple Berry.

Life is Tough, and that’s all I’m saying about that.

Triple Berry Pie

Triple Berry Pie consists of Raspberries, Blackberries & Blueberries.  Or two packages of Trader Joe’s Fruit Medley.

I made a Streusel Crumb Topping this time around, and I think it turned out quite well, don’t you?

Shouldn’t be any problems going down!!! 😛

While I was out taking pix of the pie, I attempted to take a close up of my lovely Nemesia in the planter box.  Only the wind was blowing and some of the flowers moved…but they are still lovely, I think.

Jeff and I both adore these sweet, old-fashioned looking flowers and thought they looked like miniature snapdragons, and when I did some research about them, lo and behold, they are related to the snapdragon.  I’ve been putting them in the planter box for the last three summers and they just bloom and bloom like crazy until fall.  And they don’t require much in the way of upkeep.

Happy Birthday Little Sis!

Today’s my “little” sister’s birthday, and for her present,  she is getting the “is it a boy or girl” test at the Dr’s.  I can’t wait to find out,  so Vi and I can go to Twisted and pick out yarn to make a pair of  Baby Surprise Jackets.  Plus, I found her the perfect little gift!  Only I can’t show it to you now.

Lookie what I got for my birtthday from Chris.

He of the blue, blue eyes.

Of course, here is seen working in the yard again.  Setting up the gravel pathway.
My very first ipod. I have joined this current century with the latest music device, only I don’t feel hip yet, because I am still trying to figure out how to load a song on the thing.

Mom’s Birthday Flowers

Here’s a shot of the whole shebang. Pretty, aren’t they?

Happy Birthday, Mom!!!

Today is the day my mom entered this world.

Looks like a mighty nice day to me!

Here is a glimpse of what I am making you…

It’s almost done 🙂
