“river runs thru it” stole

Materials: 7 different mainly dk and lace wt. yarns in various shades of blue and varigated blues culled from my stash

size 13/29″ needles

Zig Zag Stitch pattern (multi is even # of stitches)

Rows 1 and all ws rows: P

Rows 2, 4 & 6: * yo, k2tog*

Rows 8, 10 & 12: * SKPO, yo*

CO 128+4 for selvedge

(repeat zig zag pattern in the row order necessary for all rows)

set up row with 1st color: K2, pm, zig zag pattern, pm, K2

work 1st color for 6 rows

add 2cnd color and work for 5 rows

add back in 1st color and work for 3 rows

add 3rd color and work for 2 rows

add back in 1st color and work for 3 rows (again)
add 4th color and work for 2 rows

add back in 1st color and work for 3 rows (again)

Ta da! your are now 1/2 way thru your river !

Pick a super special yarn for the middle, this is the the largest section and you want it to stand out !

add 5th color and work for 9 rows

Repeat in reverse order all your colors and rows, ending with 1st color in 6 rows.

BO off loosely, I used an afghan sized crochet hook (maybe a Q size?)

I always find it easier to BO with a crochet hook several sizes larger than my needles.

Weave in ends and wear your “river runs thru it” with joy!

Yarns and the order that I used them for those who want specifics:

1st yarn: elsebeth lavold/ Cotton Frappe/ color # 011/ this was held together with some handspun denim colored blue lace wt alpaca I bought at a Fiber fest. appropriate substitute would be something like misti alpaca lace

2cnd yarn: Cascade yarns/ Fiesta, now called Copa/ color # 9936/ this was held together with/ Crystal Palace Yarns/ Kid Merino/ color # 4676 “pacific blue”

3rd yarn: KKK/Clip/ #16 & # 06/ a discontinued color/ steel blue-grey

4th yarn: Berocco/ Glace/color # 2347 “aquarelle”

5th yarn: my super special yarn ! Art Yarns/ Silk Rhapsody glitter/ color # 107s or RHG107
