ATC Book

Here’s my latest reading material, I joined a couple of ATC and Altered Art groups and am exploring a new creative thing for me.

I am signed up for two swaps right now: one with my fellow knitters on Ravelry with a Nature Theme and one with Yahoo Groups ATC’s on orange and pinks together.

I nabbed some stuff from my sister for the orange and pinks since we are already working with those colors for Sarah’s new “Big Girl” room. So when I saw the Orange and Pink Open Swap, of course I had to sign up!

Gisella progress

here’s where I am at on Gisella, one front panel and about 10″ of the back are knit up…I joined the Selfish Knitters group on Ravelry to help me do something for myself…for a change!  The Selfish Knitters logo is “Mine, Mine, Mine” or “Mine, Mine, All Mine” take your pick.  Nice huh?

Peaches+Rhubarb=Something Tasty

Just put around 30lbs of chopped rhubarb in the freezer and then these peaches called my name at our local fruit and veggie market called Spicer Brothers.

And did I find a recipe to combine both peaches and rhubarb! It sounds like a win win combination to me:)  more on the results later!

Actual Size

This is the actual color of these things, aren’t they amazing, like technicolor roses.

No touch up, photo shop or editing, this is just how they look.

the sunlight was so nice today, I just had to try and shoot from underneath!

and from up close!

Heirloom Roses

These are my all time favorite roses.

At one time I was told they were called “Victory” roses, with something to do with the World War, however I am not sure how much of that is a good story and how much of that is true.

They are old and they are an Heirloom rose, this much I know is true.  They range from the pale pink to palest pink, and are very delicate.  They look really pretty in the light of a full moon.

Look at the difference in the pinks, side by side.

Great Blooming Roses

Just look at this! Gorgeousness!

Here’s the other trellis of wild roses, also blooming all over the place!  You have to watch where you walk, the stalks are hanging all over and reaching out to grab unsuspecting photographers.

when I use the term “wild” I mean the single petal variety that we’re used to seeing grow wild around here

their color is very rich and deep, like claret.

drink in…

Mad about Roses

Took the camera to Jeff & Vi’s today, the roses are blooming like mad!

Here’s the trellis out back. Just covered with blooms!

Jeff and Scooter relax in the shade of the birch trees.

Vi is still working on her baby log cabin blanket.

Melissa & Andy

Melissa & Andy went to some Hawaiin themed thing at their church, so Andy dressed in his best & brightest hawaiin shirt and thought it appropriate to arrive in the style only lent by driving convertibles.

My sister’s idea of hawaiin is to wear a tank top and flip flops.

zoom zoom

and look who’s on my porch!

I told her to stand there so I can compare how tall she is with the tiger grass growing behind her.

Sarah Tumblebug

Sarah was over this weekend, we made cookies and she played tumblebug in the yard.

here’s  the cookies

tumbling

and twirling…

did you ever notice how there is never a pix of Sarah at rest?  That’s because she doesn’t.

Sarah is a go, go, go, and then take a breath and go some more type of girl.

Once she laid down on my bed and said she was resting, and about five seconds later, she had popped back up and announced she was done resting.  That is quicker than I can go get my camera and take a pix.

Scripture Collage Three

Think on these things…the original Positive Thinking scripture.  My mom always liked this one.  She usually is able to look on the bright side of things.

I used to make scripture posters and hang them all over the house when I was growing up.  Mom always said she loved those.  I guess scripture collage is the grown up version.

This was fun, now I am making another set for Sarah’s new Big Girl Room.  Melissa stocked up on the M&M’s so it would help the creative juices flow better.  Working with bright pink, orange and green is new for me.
